Linz
The Upper Austrian capitol of Linz is the second largest city in Austria and it provides a wide ranged offer. The city suffered for a long time under the reputation of being a city of industry and steel, a potential that the dynamic administration made the best of. As industry and trade gradually moved away from the central area, the city of Linz used these areas for the venturous development of culture and museum projects. Due to numerous environmental protection measures, the city of Linz is now considered to be a pioneer with regard to urban development.
Diverse cultural events, such as the Linzer Klangwolke, the Pflasterspektakel or the Prix Ars Electronica also considerably add to the modern reputation of the Danube Metropolis. Linz provides culture loving tourists a wide range of diversity with new museums, such as the Lentos – however, the historical Old Town is more than worth a visit. Linz will be the European Capitol of Culture in 2009. Another good reason to come and visit Linz.
