Ayurveda is a traditional Indian healing method and is considered to be the “mother of medicine”. The word Ayurveda originates from Sanskrit and when translated it means knowledge of life. This art of healing concentrates on physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects, which are essential to human health. The teachings of Ayurveda refer to three energies of life, the so-called doshas. All three principles are essential for healthy living. The concurrence of the doshas can be found in nature.
The Ayurvedic doshas:
- Vata – the principle of exercise
- Pitta – the principal of fire
- Kapha – the principal of structure
These three doshas affect everyone. Mostly only one or two of these doshas play a dominating role, but only rarely do all three. The doshas influence physical and mental characteristics. If the three doshas are all individually well balanced, the respective person feels well.
The main objective of the Ayurvedic treatment is to help the body to help itself.

Treatment of the musculoskeletal system
With this treatment a “dam” is formed by means of a dough ring in which a specially heated oil is poured. The oil is specially prepared, so that it can penetrate the tissues, where the active substance can ideally unleash the powers of the medicinal plants that it contains. This extremely effective method of treatment is applied for all spinal disc problems, muscular tension or painful conditions regarding the musculoskeletal system.

Both of these traditional forms of the Indian healing massage are performed with the aid of hot herbal oils from an original recipe native to the region of Karnataka in the south of India. In accordance with tradition, a small forehead drip treatment (Shirodhara) is performed, which soothes the soul and enables the body to reach a deeper state of relaxation. We especially recommend this gentle treatment to guests suffering from symptoms of stress, high blood pressure, dry skin or migraine headaches.

The traditional oil pouring treatment is considered to be the treatment of queens. A 2 handed Abhyanga is applied to begin the treatment, then the warm Indian herb oil is poured in an even stream over the forehead, “the third eye”. This special treatment proves to have positive effects on people suffering from insomnia, excessively high blood pressure, migraine headaches and nervousness.
